Change your life by changing shifting your focus

Where and how we choose to focus our attention has a huge influence on how our life continues to unfold for us.

Feeling like your life is forever a series of unfortunate events?

Like nothing ever goes your way?

Like every day is another uphill battle?

It does not have to continue to feel that way.

It is entirely possibly, quickly AND easily, to turn your life around without actually DOING anything at all.

You literally have the power to wake up tomorrow and decide where you will focus your energy and attention.

Will it be on all the 'negative' aspects of your day?

Or will it be on all the moments that light you up?

That have you smiling involuntarily?

The moments that make your heart feel full?

That light you up from the inside out?

At the age of 28 do you think I expected to be renting a room in a house share with strangers, living on the opposite side of the country, working a full time office job with 11k worth of credit card debt!?

Lol absolutely not and if I wasn't consciously creating my life I would be wallowing in misery and lamenting at how I ended up here, spiraling into a deep depression about how far my life has gone from where I thought I would be by now and where I wanted to be.

But I know I have a choice.

I decide every day to acknowledge and give my attention to all of the aspects of my life that I DO love.

The birds singing in the morning, the days getting longer, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the incredible views on my commute to work, being able to walk in the fells from my back door, living with a family I really get along with, having a bedroom that finally feels like my safe space, having a job that supports me financially, having a job so I can nurture and satisfy myself outside of work, playing with Rafiki, cooking and eating nourishing food, getting lost in a good book, long hot baths, getting warm and cosy after a wet and windy walk, the majestic mountains, the mental space to continue solidifying my foundations of wellbeing, and I could go on and on.

Focusing on what lights you up does not equate to toxic positivity.

You can absolutely acknowledge that aspects of your life are really fucking shit right now, you can feel the feelings that those circumstances bring, but you then have a choice in how long you sit in that and continue to focus on it.

Next time something 'bad' happens recognise the energy you are feeding it, how long you are focusing on it, and then see if you can make the conscious decision to shift your focus to either a silver lining in the situation, or to something that brings you joy.

I promise that the more often you practice this, the more habitual it will become.

Before long you will be loving your life without even having had to make any physical changes!

Let me know how this feels for you and if you have any questions.

I appreciate you and I am proud of you.

Much love,

Matilda
